Fun Times in August

The month of August has been full of a lot of family camping and fun.   I am way behind on my pictures and have lots of them to add to this blog.   We just returned from a week at Lake Powell last night and while it is fresh on my mind on want to thank my family and friends for making it such a fun trip.   But . . . make no mistake . . . this is a VERY HARD camping experience.   It is not for the "fair weather" camper.   You have to be able to stand extreme heat for 18 hrs a day, endless sand in everything, spiders, ants, mice, lizards, snakes, frogs, toads, wind, and rain, and did I mention more sand???   You have to love the beautiful green water because it is your lifesaver at Powell!!!!   You have to be a hard worker and pull your share of the work and then some.  We go through sunscreen, and water by the gallons and come home dead tired!!   Now some of you may say why do you go every year ???? . . .  it is because of the wonderful memories we create and the bonds we form and the beauty around us that our Father in Heaven has created.

Powell Trip #1

Paul and I took the boat and went to Lake Powell by ourselves.   We usually have a whole gang, but we decided to "motel" it.  We stayed in a Motel 6 that had great parking for the boat, good beds, but super thin walls.   We spent 2 days exploring for good campsites and just doing nothing but relaxing in the 82 degree water.   We also helped out a stranded couple on a wave runner.   They were up at the end of a canyon and we towed them back to the main marina.   They were French and spoke very little English, but they were very glad we came along.

Camping . . . LA Visit . . . Seven Peaks

Since we had a cold, wet and long spring, we went to Cherry Hills for Memorial weekend with James, Ashley, Jason, Danny, Melanie, Dawson, Ryan, Paul and I.

The next weekend I went to LA to visit Kim, Kellie and Joe.   Here are some pictures of the house they moved into recently.  Joe has been taking good care of the yard.

We also visited the Queen Mary.

Since Lynn and Jake were home for a short visit from their tour of duty in the Middle East, we spent a Saturday having fun at Seven Peaks.

Updating my Blog Site

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, but I do need some help with my blog format.   I have tried fixing it, but I guess I will get a family member help me.    Hence, I have not written or posted pictures because I don't have any motivation.    I do have pictures of Kellie and Joe's wedding that I will put on the site . . . hopefully before their 1 year anniversary.    So . . .  stay tuned.
